Ashland Bay was born from the idea that it takes a fiber enthusiast to know what a fiber enthusiast really wants. Founders Jim and Jill Laski created the company (originally named Ashland Bay Trading Company) in 1991, but their experience in the spinning fiber business goes back almost 25 years.
It all started in 1982, when Jill brought 3 angora bunnies home. Before long, Jill discovered a genuine passion for spinning, carding and dyeing. In 1984, she started The Hare’s Hair, a small retail business that specialized in custom-blended spinning batts and hand-painted yarns.
Realizing there was a need for a wholesaler dedicated to offering a superior selection of high-quality fiber products, the Laskis expanded their vision, opening Ashland Bay to serve the needs of other specialty fiber retailers.
Today, Ashland Bay stands as the premier fiber wholesaler to spinning, weaving and knitting shops throughout the United States and beyond. We proudly offer North America’s largest selection of high-quality dyed fibers, ecru fibers and yarns from around the world.
